Acolytes at Wesley U.M.C.

Serving the Lord

Even young boys and girls can participate in worship in a way that gives glory to God.  Children light the candles on our worship altar at the beginning of both traditional services on Sunday mornings.  They also extinguish the candles at the conclusion of the service and lead us in taking the light of Christ out into the world.

Being an acolyte is not something to be taken lightly.  t is a ministry, a service to God in the House of the Lord.  The acolyte has an important role in leading the congregation in its worship of God.

Acolyte Training

Each acolyte is trained by Rev. Williams.  He is happy to do that at any time for individual new acolytes.  However, the next scheduled group training event will occur late this summer.

Acolytes at Wesley are are in third grade and above.  Children wishing to serve as an acolyte should contact Rev. Williams (893-2556).
