This thirty-week study of the classical doctrines of the Christian faith aims at presenting, explaining
and interpreting Christian doctrine as the basic teaching of the Church to the end that informed believing leads to
committed discipleship.
Christian Believer emphasizes the relationship of worship, belief, and daily life. The
beliefs of the Christian community, taught within the Church, equip the followers of Christ for living faithfully and
for passing on the faith entrusted to us.
What is Christian Believer?
- Christian Believer is a unique opportunity:
- to know more of the central teachings of the Christian faith
- to explore the connections between doctrine and Scripture, between believing and
living
- to wrestle with some of the questions of belief Christians have wrestled with for the
last
2000 years
- to be equipped for living faithfully and for passing on the faith to others.
- Christian Believer is an in depth study of the beliefs
of the Christian faith. By drawing
on Holy Scripture, historical
creeds of the Church, pivotal symbols of the faith, and the writings of
the some of the most profound thinkers of Christendom, this study draws
the participants of the class into thoughtful reflection upon of the
teachings of the Church Universal. As a member of the class, you
will:
- explore both the Scriptures and the teachings of the Church shaped from those
Scriptures
- read the testimony of God's Word and the creeds and confessions of the Church
- learn the content of Christian doctrine with fellow believers as well as with scores
of
believers from across the ages St. Augustine, Hildegard, Calvin, Luther,
Wesley, St. Ignatius, St. Thomas Aquinas, Barth, Bonhoeffer, and many more.
