The third Saturday of October is the day that people of faith, from many different denominations all over
the state, gather at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia. The groups and families bring money that has been
raised and "kits" that have been assembled during the year. The
Festival of Sharing is now in its 28th year and generates approximately $1 million annually. The interfaith
event is an expression of mission support and involvement that has helped improve the lives of countless individuals in
Missouri and around the world. The Wesley United Methodist Women have chosen Backpacks of Love as their sponsored "kit" to support Missouri children between the ages of 4 to 11 who have experienced a crisis and are being placed in foster care. Anyone who would like to donate items of the kit may do so between now and Wednesday, October 14. Collection boxes have been placed in the fellowship hall at the church. The Backpacks of Love kits include the following items:
All items must be able to "fit" into the small backpack. |
