Habitat for Humanity

Wesley has provided volunteer labor since 1993 to assist River City Habitat for Humanity in its mission to provide new homes to persons currently living in substandard housing.

In 2003 Wesley sponsored Shawn Otto's house by providing over $4000.00 in construction costs, over 1300 hours of construction labor, and lunches for the volunteers every Saturday for over three months.

In following years, Wesley provided labor on the second Saturday of each month to help in the construction of other new houses.  Wesley volunteers also help provide lunch to the construction volunteers on those Saturdays.  We have been providing this mission service opportunity for over six years.

United Methodist Build Project
In 2008 our church partnered with First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City to do a United Methodist Build.  Actually, planning began a couple of years earlier while developing funding through our two churches.  Ground breaking ceremonies took place at 824 Clark Avenue on Sunday, August 24, 2008.  United Methodist Churches in the surrounding area have been asked to plug in as well.  Some have agreed to provide lunch for the workers on Saturdays.  Find out more about the current status of our United Methodist Build.
