Church-wide Hands On Mission Day
Saturday, September 19, 2009
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Most of us can't afford to take time off from work and family to go on a mission trip.  So, we set up an opportunity to be in mission while staying right here in our church.  It was the Church-wide Hands On Mission Day.  Various groups from the church, including the Piecemakers, U.M.W., U.M.M. and the Fellowship Team will be sponsored a variety of activities throughout the day.  We had a great day participating in mission all around the world without even having to leave home!

Some of our projects included:
–  sewing school bags and baby diapers
–  making wooden parts for P.E.T. (Personal Energy Transportation) scooters
–  assembling greeting cards for U.S. military
–  highway clean up
–  and more.

Lunch was provided by the Fellowship Team and nursery care was provided for workers who needed it.

Due to the overwhelming response during the school supply collection and the success of the 2009 Hands-On Mission Day, 30 cloth baby diapers, 3 lap quilts, and 23 complete school bags/supply kits plus a great many extra school supplies were delivered to the Midwest Mission Distribution Center in Chatham, Illinois.  From there they were sent to those in need all around the world.

One hundred greeting cards were created for U.S. military

Also, ten sets of hand crafted wooden parts for PET scooters were delivered to their headquarters in Columbia.  Thanks to all who helped make these donations possible.
