Midwest Mission Distribution
Center Ten volunteers arrived at the Midwest Mission Distribution Center (MMDC) in Chatham, Illinois on Thursday, November 20, 2008 eager to be put to work. This wonderful ministry is fully self-supporting and relies solely on donations of money, time, and goods from its many supporters throughout the midwest. On Friday morning, we took a tour of the MMDC and were amazed at the scope of needs they strive to meet, locally and internationally, and the changes and improvements they have made since our visit last year. The group logged 80 hours of work collectively at the Center performing a variety of tasks such as sewing kit check and assembly, flood bucket quality control, woodworking and cleaning. The group also delivered 30 health kits collected from members of Wesley last spring and 72 locally sewn children's hospital outfits. In addition, several group members served lunch on Saturday at St. John's Breadline, a soup kitchen in downtown Springfield, which serves about 500 people with two meals daily. Trip members agreed the trip was a worthwhile experience and felt fortunate to be able to participate in such a wonderful ministry.
