Malaria is one of the world's most preventable diseases.  Yet every 30 seconds, a child in Africa dies from malaria.  Bed nets can effectively combat this disease in two ways. They stop mosquitoes from biting during the night and spreading the disease, and the insecticide on the nets kills the mosquitoes when they land on it.  A treated bed net only costs $10.

Our Wesley Wilderness Sunday School children started the ball rolling at our church.  The children collected a special offering each Sunday morning for several weeks.  They raised $223.

Following the lead of our children, other groups within our church joined together to raise even more money by hosting a Trivia Night.  Along with the game, participants took advantage of a Silent Auction and concession that night.  The event netted $2,620.

2008 Vacation Bible School:  Each year our VBS children have a mission project.  In 2008 it was Nothing But Nets.  The children raised $440 and another $30 was added that following Sunday at a dunking booth.

TOTAL TO DATE:  Through the combined efforts of Trivia Night, our children's Sunday School mission offering, and VBS we have raised $3,317.  That's enough for over 331 nets.  Since one to four people can sleep under each net, we were able to help save some where between 284 and 1324 lives!
