Tammy Stains
Director of Nurture Ministries

As the Director of Nurture Ministries at Wesley U.M.C., Tammy works with various family ministries going on in the church including the Inviting Team, Nurture Team, Special Events, and Fellowship Team.  For the past 6 1/2 years, Tammy has worked full time at Wesley UMC. Beginning on February 1st,
she now works full time for another non-profit organization but still works
part-time for Wesley, 10 hours per week.
Recently, she wrote a grant for Wesley and received an award of $5,000.00 from the Missouri United Methodist Foundation for AV equipment upgrades. Tammy has a varied background with experience in elementary and music education in addition to previously owning two retail businesses.

Creativity, planning, the love of music, business development and caring for others’ needs are among the gifts God has given her to serve the members of our church.

Tammy grew up in a small rural Missouri town where she attended the United Methodist Church.  In 1988, she graduated Summa cum Laude from Lincoln University, obtaining a degree in Elementary Education.  Tammy has over seven years of teaching experience, teaching both general classes and Music Education to her students.  She has written and directed numerous plays at the grade school level and enjoys producing these programs.  Tammy has also owned and operated two retail businesses, one of which was a teacher's store.  Of the many joys in her life, the two most important are her adopted children, Dustin and Breana.  Tammy has part of our Wesley staff since July of 2005. She just recently married the love of her life, John Stains on November 5, 2011 here in our Sanctuary.

Tammy began her employment with Wesley on July 7 of 2005. Coming to Wesley was a definite gift from God for Tammy. As she interacts with the members of Wesley, she is encouraged and blessed to know that so much is being done to bring the Good News of God’s love to the world. It is her blessing to have been chosen to be a part of such a loving, energetic congregation.
