The Mid-State District UMW Fall Meeting will be held at Wesley on Saturday, September 11, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. Brenda Stoneburner will be the speaker for the fall meeting. She recently retired as a missionary at Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky. Brenda will share information about the history and current activities at the Settlement. Among other things, the Henderson Settlement provides education, food, clothing, and other needs to the people in this economically stressed region. Our mission project will be a shower ("After School Snack Shower") for the Henderson Settlement. All attending are asked to bring items for the after school snack program or personal items. Suggestions for snacks are individual pudding and jello cups, fruit cups, cheese/peanut butter crackers, fruit juices, cereal, granola bars, dried fruits, 1-serving size bags of pop corn, chips or cookies, small boxed drinks like Hi C, plastic cups and plates. The personal items needed are shampoo, lotion, toothpaste, tooth brushes, and deodorant. Brenda will be taking all items back to Kentucky with her. A business meeting will be held to include updates on current events, election of 2011 Mission Team and the announcement of our Woman of the Year. Lunch and breakfast items will be provided by Wesley women. Make your reservations by contacting Gail Wekenborg at 573-680-2974. The cost of the meeting is $6 and is payable at the door. All women and youth are welcome to attend. |
