The United
Methodist Women's Reading Program
For all those women of Wesley who love to read, consider participating in the UMW Reading Program.
Each year, the Women's Division recommends a diverse range of books with the intention of broadening exposure to a
variety of concepts including Education for Mission, Spiritual Growth, Social Action and Nurturing for Community.
Pick up a copy of the 2009 booklet on the U.M.W. shelf in the library. Some of the books are available in the
Wesley library. You will also find in the church library a list of the books that are available through the
Missouri River Regional Library and MOBIUS inter-library loan. Start reading now to broaden your horizons!
Watch for reviews of some of the books on this year's list in future editions of the church's newsletter. If you
have questions about the U.M.W. Reading Program contact Kathy Boyer.
The purpose of the Reading Program is to encourage United Methodist Women:
- to expand understanding of and participation in God's mission;
- to increase sensitivity to all human beings-their needs, interests, and concerns;
- to encourage critical thinking about issues facing humanity today;
- to grow in understanding of Scripture as it relates to Christian faith in contemporary life;
- to enhance self-knowledge and to act from that knowledge;
- to strengthen involvement in local and global Christian mission.
