UMW Assembly 2010
Call for Prayer “Shawls” and Baby Blankets

Across the United States, United Methodist Women members knitted, crocheted or sewed prayer shawls to give to people in their communities in need of compassion and caring, warmth and love.  When shawls were completed, they were blessed during brief services in local churches, and then distributed nearby.

The Assembly 2010 planners are urged United Methodist Women members who had skills in knitting, crocheting or sewing to create prayer shawls and baby blankets for those in need.  The shawls and baby blankets were made from fabric, knitting or crocheting yarn.

The women of Wesley United Methodist Church joined the effort and produced 18 prayer shawls.

Suggested Sizes:
     • Prayer shawls: triangle 65" long and 32" center back, rectangle 19” x 69” or 14” x 70”
     • Baby blankets: 30" x 30"; 32" x 32"; 36" x 36"; 38" x 38"
