A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRIES

Though I've been a member of Wesley U.M.C. for a number of years, I'm just now getting started as our church's Director of Youth Ministries.  I am both very excited and I must admit a little nervous as I take on this ministry for the youth of our church.  What I have learned of God through the years is that if we remain faithful in our service to Him, He will remain faithful to us in giving us what we need to fulfill what He has called us to do.  So, I'm relying on Him!

I will be completing my part-time contract with Cole R-I Schools through June 30.  I currently work on Mondays and Tuesdays at the school.  Therefore, my hours at Wesley will be on Wednesday and Thursday as well as Sunday evening.  I invite anyone that would like to discuss the youth program at Wesley to stop by and visit on those days or give me a call at church.

We will be working together in the coming weeks to establish a calendar of activities to finish out May and through the summer.

The ancient African proverb says “it takes a village to raise a child.”  This speaks eternal truth.  In our case, “it takes a church family to raise a child.”  A church family that says we believe in our youth and surrounds them with encouragement, prayers and spiritual guidance as they go through their “pre-teen and teen” years.  We are looking for adult helpers to be a part of this youth ministry.  No experience required other than an open willing heart!  My prayer is that God will put that desire in many of our church family as we work together to “raise” up a generation of youth that makes a difference for Him and His Kingdom.  Come and join me in this great adventure!

Serving Him with a grateful heart,
Penny Mueller, Youth Director
