Room at the Inn

You may have heard, either through the local TV news or the local newspaper, that Housing the Community of Jefferson City (HCJC), the parent partner of the Room At The Inn (RATI), an overnight winter shelter for the unhoused, has been looking for a new home for its programs.  A location has been found at 107 Adams Street. This location is envisioned to house a day service center and RATI overnight winter shelter. A rezoning plan was presented before the Jefferson City Planning and Zoning Committee Thursday, June 11. After people spoke both in favor of the plan and in opposition, the Committee voted the rezoning request down.

This rezoning request was just phase one. It will still go before the City Council on August 3 for further approval. We are asking those people who live within the Jefferson City limits and support this proposal to contact their City Council members directly, either by phone or mail, indicating your support for this proposal.

The support you show will go a long way to make this proposal a reality for our community.  We thank you in advance for your efforts.

Should you have any questions, please give Ron Hansen a call.

Community Garden

If you or anyone you know in our community enjoys gardening but doesn't have the space to do so, we have a suggestion:

Rent a space at the Wesley UMC Pinwheel Community Garden!

Each plot is approximately 20' X 20' and the rent is $30.  Last year’s gardeners will get the first opportunity to renew their rental plot. After that, applications will be taken on a first come first serve basis. Applications can be obtained by contacting the church office via email at wumcjeffcity@gmail.com or picked up at the church office, 2727 Wesley St., Monday—Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Any questions, please contact Marcia Burton at marcia.burton1005@gmail.com.
